Minor Cuts & Scrapes

Clean, protect, and support surface healing

Minor cuts and scrapes are shallow skin injuries that can usually be handled with basic first aid: wash your hands, rinse the wound with clean running water, gently remove visible dirt, stop bleeding with light pressure, then keep the area moist and covered with a clean bandage. Natural ingredients should be secondary to cleanliness and protection. Aloe vera may soothe surrounding irritated skin, honey has wound-care research mainly for medical-grade dressings rather than pantry honey, coconut oil can help dry surrounding skin but is not a substitute for sterile wound care, and salt is better understood as saline-style cleansing context rather than something to rub into a wound. Seek medical care for deep, gaping, dirty, animal/human-bite, puncture, face/eye/genital, or heavily bleeding wounds; spreading redness, warmth, swelling, pus, fever, red streaks, numbness, worsening pain, or uncertain tetanus status also need care.
